Introduced in 2002 as a limited edition off the Cafe range and now an annual special release, Gold Label is named for its golden Connecticut Shade wrapper — leaves from the lowest, sun-shaded primings of the plant, which retain more natural sugar. A Mexican San Andres binder and Dominican/Mexican filler underneath keep it mild and smooth, with cedar, roasted nuts, cream, baking spice, and an unusual lemony sweetness.
