The non-Cuban Montecristo's namesake line, dating to a mid-1970s Dominican debut after the Menendez family relocated production following the Cuban revolution — the original brand itself traces to 1935 Havana. Connecticut Shade wrapper over Dominican binder and filler gives leather, cedar, semi-sweet oak, honey, and pepper in a smooth, medium-bodied smoke.
